We have started a who is coming list we have 3 different states CONFIRMED so far, Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas who wants to add Arkansas to the mix. Lots of fun and very well organized.

Our Team (Dirt Devils 01) was planning to play in the World Series in OK until we noticed it was the same days as the ASA state in Arkansas. I also believe it is the same date as the USSSA state here in Arkansas for 8U. If the USSSA would consider moving the date i'm sure you would get more participation from teams in AR.

There is not a USSSA state tournament in Arkansas per state director so those that want to play in the USSSA World series will get the state tournament requirement waived. As far as ASA state and World Series being on the same date I really can not do anything about that. World Series is a higher level of play and date changing a World Series would effect more people. You should talk to your ASA state rep and see if they can change the state tournament as it only effects a couple of teams so that the teams can go to the next level and play in a World Series Championship and play at a state tournament, the best of both worlds . It is so cool for the kids to meet friends from other states and coaches to meet from other states. See what you can do and we hope we can see it work out for everyone. Have a great season!

Yea that is a really great tournament and great cause! Double points you can't beat that! Play in Pitch For A Cure get double points and get a better seeding for USSSA World Series. Come on it will be a great experience!

thanks for the invite. we would love to play in both of these tournaments but unfortunately the June 11th weekend is our district tournament (district 9) and the 25th weekend is our state tournament.
we are looking for a couple of out of town tournaments but the goals for the team have always been to win our district and compete for a state championship.

OKFC, I have a couple of questions for you.

1) Did someone from USSSA Arkansas tell you that Arkansas would not have a USSSA 8u machine pitch state tournament?

2) The past two years my Thunder teams have been USSSA State and World Series Champions and last year also finished runner-up in both as well. Now we have to "choose" which title we want to defend?

Also, I feel confident that the Dirt Devils are "ready for world series play" and could likely have a shot at winning both a USSSA State title and a USSSA World Series but they are being forced by USSSA to "choose" one or the other.

Billy Austin is who told me this. I have sent him an email to be clear about his statement. I have also asked him if he had a facility with a non conflicting date would he host a 6u & 8u state for you guys. I understand the desire to defend a title so therefore I am trying to see what I can from my end.

Dirt Devils; I have no doubt that Dirt Devils or any other team are ready for world series play, I was just reflecting on his statement that "goals for the team have always been to win our district and compete for a state championship." Some teams have different goals and that is fine. I respect any team’s decision on their own goals.

USSSA forcing one to choose; being forced by USSSA to choose, choose what? Choose between ASA and USSSA? I can't do anything about that as a World Series event, it affects many different states and schedules, it would be easier for a state to change a date than a World Series change a date. You may want to get with ASA and explain your dilemma and see if they are willing work with you at the state level. This will allow all the Arkansas teams to support ASA-state and the NIT that they offer and support USSSA as well.
